The Gharieni Gab with Garrett Mersberger

6. May 2018

Did you know that wellness is prehistoric? We can trace our roots back to ancient times, when we used mineral-rich spring water and even seawater for medicinal purposes. Also known as balneotherapy and thalassotherapy, we dedicate the month of Aquarius to water.

As Director of Wellness & Kohler Waters Spas, Garrett Mersberger oversees the Kohler Waters Spa at The American Club, the Kohler Waters Spa in Burr Ridge, Illinois, the Kohler Waters Spa in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and the Kohler Waters Spa at the Old Course Golf Resort and Spa in St. Andrews, Scotland. The Kohler Waters Spa portfolio is recognized worldwide for its innovative water services and five-star customer service. Kohler Waters Spa in Kohler, Wisconsin, is one of only 47 five-star spas in the world.

Interview

Do you prefer lakes, rivers or the sea?

I love nature and living in Wisconsin. So my favorite category is rivers! In Wisconsin, the rivers seem to change with the seasons. In the spring, they carry a lot of water due to the melting snow, which creates an amazing, peaceful sound. In the summer, they often carry very little water, so you can pick rocks and skip over the banks. In the fall, the rivers are full of life as the salmon swim upstream to spawn. And in winter, the rivers freeze over, making them a fun playground for ice skating with my kids!

Do you prefer a carbonated or non-carbonated drink?

Still water is definitely my favorite.

What is your favorite spa treatment?

Anything to do with hydrotherapy! At Kohler Waters Spa, the Healing Waters treatment is definitely my favorite service because it is hydrotherapy at its finest. Under Kohler’s custom Vichy shower, this service blends different water sources and temperatures to revitalize your senses and improve your overall circulation. It’s a must if you ever visit a Kohler Waters Spa!
